We love going to places during the Christmas holidays. Mostly because it’s the perfect time for a little rest and relaxation, and because Christmas just makes us want to be with our family. It is undeniable, however, that while we are looking forward for a relaxing break we are not so excited about the stress that comes along with travelling. Holiday travel might be associated with a whole lot of nail-biting and clenched teeth, but it doesn’t have to be like this anymore. Here’s a list of our favorite travel hacks to make travelling a little easier this year.
1. Enjoy Package Deals
Packaging up your airfare and hotel reservations is like hitting two birds with one stone. Plus, you’ll be able to save more cash. Throw in a car rental to your travel bundle and other whatnot you think is useful while on vacation. There are many travel bundle promos offered online that offer flexible package deals.
2. Make Early Hotel Reservations
It’s a fact that hotel prices hike way up during the holidays. Be alert for early Christmas promo offers and book early (READ: a few months early).
3. Bring a Scarf
Bring your favorite scarf. It will be your best friend whilst you are travelling. Whether you use it as a blanket, wear it as a fashion accessory, or roll it up like a pillow, a cozy scarf is a versatile travel item for holiday travel.
4. Wear Comfortable Clothing
No, don’t slip on your 5-inch heels just yet. Save it for the family Christmas party. Wear your most comfortable flat shoes instead.
5. Attach a Ribbon to your suitcase
Unless your suitcase is custom-made, there is always some other guy with the same black suitcase as yours. So save yourself the hassle of picking up the wrong suitcase. Attach a bright colored ribbon or sticker to your suitcase to make it stand out. That way it’ll be literally calling you from a mile away on the airport conveyor belt.
6. Roll your Clothes
Rolling your clothes in your suitcase will not only save you space, it saves your clothes from getting super wrinkly too.
6. Protect Fragile Items in your Suitcase with a Sock
Placing fragile or breakable items inside a sock when packing will ensure that they arrive at your destination in one piece.
Make copies of your passport, plane tickets, birth certificate, health insurance and hotel booking information before you leave and stash them in your carry on so you can access them easily if urgently needed.
